The Effect of Social Media Distractions

Living in a society where using social media is part of our daily routine distractions are just a click away. Before the existence of social media, there was one less distraction. Nowadays we carry a major source of distractions in our palms and we call it a smartphone. Social media distractions can be emotionally draining. It only takes one post to alter someone’s emotions from being totally happy, satisfied, grateful and focused to totally judgmental, envious, miserable and unfocused. These emotions cause by social media posts are most times unwarranted. People usually post for the audience that they want to attract. Distractions in other areas of our life

Distractions are always present in the media, church and other places. As for the media, it’s okay to keep up to date with the latest news but don’t allow the information to distract and control you. Some of the information presented in the media does not present truth all the time.  Distractions in the media are usually unwarranted and only prevents you from paying attention to the events that require your attention. Distractions at church are very common, unfortunately. We get distracted by what other people are wearing, how the pastor talks, or by the design and decor of the church.  Situations that occur at school and work could be distracting. Distraction at these places could be harmful to our self and others. Uncontrolled distraction at school could negatively affect an individual’s performance. Uncontrolled distraction at work could cost a company profits. So be careful how distractions affect you mentally.
