Electric mixer
Baking the best sugar cookies is way easier and quicker when you use an electric mixer. In fact, an electric mixer mixes the butter, sugar, egg, and extract within minutes vs mixing these ingredients manually.
Three Mixing Bowls
When baking sugar cookies you can use one bowl. However, I find using three mixing bowls is best. One bowl for mixing the egg before adding the egg to the other wet ingredients, a second mixing bowl for mixing wet ingredients and the third bowl for mixing dry ingredients.
Sifter
A sifter helps remove any lumps or debris from the flour which helps creates better cookie dough.
Measuring Spoons, Cups, and/or a Scale
Accurate measuring is important for baking delicious treats. Thus, measuring spoons, cups and or scales is a must. Thankfully, they are very affordable at Walmart.
Spatula
A spatula is a must for prepping the cookie dough – it’s very useful for folding dry ingredients and for scaping the bowl.
Cookie Cutters
Your cookie cutters can be plastic or metal to me it doesn’t matter. In fact, from experience they both get the job done. I ordered a set of plastic cookie cutters a while back and they still rock! Recently, I used them to make some Halloween sugar cookies and I was very happy with the results.
Flour Shaker
While a flour shaker isn’t a must it definitely helps add flour evenly to the rolling surface.
Adjustable Rolling Pin
An adjustable rolling pin that evenly flattens your cookie dough helps you create the best even height cookies.
Cookie Baking Tray
Cookie baking tray is a must. Thankfully they’re not expensive. However, the bigger cookie trays will cost more. Therefore, if you only plan on baking small batches of sugar cookies use a small cookie tray.
Cooling Rack
A cooling rack is another must item especially if you want to avoid soggy cookies.
Oven Mitts
Finally, grab your favorite pair of oven mitts and you are now ready to start baking your sugar cookies.
